2021 Eidul-Fitr Announcement
As-Salaamu-Alaikum wa Ramadan Mubarak!
Astronomical projections indicate that on Wednesday, May 12th, the hilal (new crescent moon sighting) ending the month of Ramadan and beginning the month of Shawwal, should be easily seen in the Southern, Southwestern, and Western regions of the United States and other parts of the world. Therefore, the month of Ramadan will end Wednesday evening and Eidul-Fitr is projected for Thursday, May 13, 2021. We will announce sightings on our website:
The Section Conveners and Imams associated with the Community of Imam W. Deen Mohammed adhere to the general principle of local sighting (within the continental USA) with the naked eye. We use Allah’s gift of science to help pinpoint when and where naked eye sightings are most likely to be possible to guide our sighting efforts. If the moon is sighted with the naked eye, please contact your local Imam who should then notify their Section Convener with the details of the sighting. Details of the sighting should include:
Name of the sighters.
Location (and time of the sighting if possible).
Picture of the moon.
Wherever Muslims are in the world, we pray that you have experienced a blessed and beneficial Ramadan and have a wonderful Eidul-Fitr!
